Thanksgiving Baskets Delivered to Needy

by Scott on December 6, 2011

Once again our community has demonstrated its generosity and brightened the day of some of the needy families in our community.

Under the direction of Jim Barrett, Social Action Chair for our parish council, St. Mary Parish provided 16 Thanksgiving baskets to families in need, comprising 39 adults and 20 children.

On this year’s effort, Jim had the following comments:

“I realize it has become almost a ritual but I hope that it doesn’t become stale when I say Thank You to my generous brothers and sisters of St. Mary’s. This past Thanksgiving you once again showed your true Christian love for your less fortunate brothers and sisters. On their behalf I thank you and on my own behalfI thank you for allowing me to be the face of your generosity. Special thanks to Betty and Scott Gabbard who donated ALL the turkeys, as they’ve done for several years now.”

St. Mary’s delivered 28 Christmas baskets in 2010 and Jim will also be leading that effort again this year.
