I fondly remember Paul Paulli as a very kind man who was always busy preparing for liturgy when Christine and I joined St. Mary’s a few years ago. At the time he was responsible for worship and spiritual life at the parish. Paul always had a smile for me, regardless of how busy he was.
I also remember the time he brought Dr. Ruth Queen Smith to the parish to share the Lectio Divina technique of prayer. That was a great lecture and I believe it was a type of prayer that Paul practiced regularly. You could tell that Paul was a man of prayer. He had both peace and confidence about him.
I was sorry to get the call today from Sissy that he had passed. I knew he had been very ill, but it’s always sad to learn that the time has come. Of course, we all know that he is now in heaven with Our Lord, but it’s still sad to lose such a wonderful man. I’m sure his wife, Mary Lou, and the rest of his family miss him very much. I’ve been praying for the repose of his soul today, as well as for God’s consolation for his family.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
