This evening the St. Mary parish community and visiting priests celebrated the 5th anniversary of the dedication of our church building with a Mass and reception following. Msgr. Francis Xavier Mankel, Vicar General of the Diocese, was the primary celebrant assisted by Deacon Noel “Mick” Spencer.
Bishop Richard Stika was originally scheduled to celebrate the Mass, but was unable to attend as he is recovering from a recent illness. Msgr. Mankel did a wonderful job conveying the Bishop’s greetings and his gratitude for our prayers throughout his period of hospitalization. He encouraged us to continue to pray for the Bishop’s full recovery.

The Mass was concelebrated by our pastor, Fr. William Oruko, and our former pastor, Fr. Jim Vick, as well as five other priests from around the Diocese. The other concelebrants included Fr. Al Humbrecht, Fr. William McKenzie, Fr. Jesus Antonio Giraldo, Fr. Michael Woods and Fr. Jorge Cano. The 4th degree Knights of Columbus were on hand and decked out in their full regalia, providing an impressive color guard for the event.
A reception followed the Mass where there was an abundance of sweets and tasty treats. Many thanks to all the people who contributed to this memorable event.
